It is impossible for a lover of cats to banish these alert, gentle, and discriminating little friends, who give us just enough of their regard and complaisance to make us hunger for more.

We are Jean and Peter Elms and we live with our delightful Norwegian Forest Cats  in a small Cheshire village at the foot of the Peak District National Park.
I have since childhood loved cats both domestic and wild, and when I  was a child I would bring home all the neighbourhood strays.
Although mum wasn't very happy with the number of cats I came home  with she accepted my passion and we always had several cats in residence.

My  prefix Reshma means silken and what can be more silken than the feel of a cats fur ?

I met my first Norwegian Forest Cat when I accompanied my husband on a business trip to Scandinavia.
The small Hotel where we stayed had a very large black and white cat that would sit every day on the reception desk and appear to be looking down its nose at the world. This giant of a cat would allow complete strangers to stroke and fuss him while he purred like a jet engine revving up. Needless to say I spent many happy hours playing with and stroking this cat. The receptionist told me it was a Skogkatt (forest cat) and by the end of our five day stay I had fallen completely under this cats spell and could not wait to get home and learn more.

I have had these delightful cats in my life since 2004 and I have been breeding them since 2005. I could not now imagine my  life without them. I knew this relationship would be something special and I have not been disappointed.
The aim of breeding these delightful cats should be to preserve the original characteristics that have evolved through natural selection over thousands of years and to ensure the breed stays just as Mother Nature intended. We have been entrusted with  a very special cat indeed and our aim here at Reshma is to breed strong healthy kittens true to the Norwegian Forest Cat standard.

I am always striving to learn more about cats and what it is that makes them so special.
